Cars are very limited around Catalina Island and most tourists choose to get around either by bicycle of golf cart. Renting a golf cart allows you the opportunity to get a lay of the land and explore the island in a fun and unique way. Once you scope out the entire island, you can choose what activities you would like to try.

    Jeep Tours
Catalina Island has some rough terrain, not always suitable for a golf cart. Go on an eco-jeep tour into the interior of the island with a naturalist guide and learn about the various fauna and wildlife of the island.

    Snorkeling
A must-do activity! Catalina Island's clear waters and coastal reefs are teeming with unique and colorful marine life and have been voted by Islands Magazine as one of the “Best in the World” snorkeling spots.

    Kayaking
Kayaking is a great way to explore Catalina's rugged shoreline and secluded coves. You can rent kayaks or go on a kayaking tour. Either way, you'll discover a special connection with the ocean as you glide along, moving silently among the tops of the undulating kelp forests, becoming a part of the sea's ebb and flow.

    Sport fishing
Charter boats offer fishing trips for yellowtail, white sea bass, calico bass, shark, and even marlin! For a simpler fishing experience, simply rent a rod and reel at the pier and drop a line to see what you might hook.

    Parasailing
One of the first things you'll see when approaching the Island is the sky speckled with colorful parasailers zipping through Avalon Harbor. For people who want to have beautiful coastal views and give their daredevil side a thrill, try parasailing.

    Ziplining
Experience Catalina in the air! Five separate lines zip a total of almost 4000 feet across Descanso Canyon and descend into Descanso Beach.

    Hiking
From easy strolls to more challenging treks for experienced hikers in the peak of fitness, there is a wide variety of hikes to explore Catalina's wilderness. From the 37-mile Trans-Catalina Trail to short hikes, there's something for everyone.

    Golfing
Play the course that hosted the legendary Bobby Jones Tournament in the 1930's to 1950's and that Tiger Woods played on as a young boy. The Catalina Island Golf Course's 9 hole, 2100-yard layout is an easy course to walk or ride, and golf equipment is available for rent.

    Miscellaneous activities
Catalina Island is also full of great shopping and dining, so you’re certain never to have a dull moment while on southern California’s only island. Check out the Catalina Chamber of Commerce site for more suggestions.
